Before Jesus came to earth, and before the Holy Spirit was sent to indwell us, God lived between the two golden cherubim on the mercy seat in His holy temple in Jerusalem. Honestly, it doesn’t look like a comfortable place to dwell, but who am I to question His choice?
Exodus 25:22
And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony
